The HP Pavilion 22cwa Monitor sports impressive aesthetics with wide viewing angles and IPS technology thus making it an ideal monitor for all the budget-minded consumers.

PROS. Premium IPS panel.Thin Bezels.Good overall performance
CONS.Tilt-only stand

The HP  Pavilion 22cwa is undoubtedly a budget LED monitor for everyday users that has more to offer in terms of design and specs while keeping the price within the “budget range.” The Monitor boasts of a slender bezel which offers seamless and borderless viewing satisfaction. While the 21.5-inch screen could be smaller for some users, HP gets it right in terms of quality as the monitor comes with IPS technology for wide viewing angles. This model does not feature automatic brightness and built-in speakers, but then the image quality sets it apart from the competition making it valuable for every buck spent on it.

Design and Features

The HP 22cwa boasts of a sleek and bezel-less design that makes the 21.5-inch look bigger thus rivalling some 24 inch models do. The stand and casing are all made out of plastic but they look premium and very sturdy.

The unit measures 19.6 x 15.8 x 5.9 inches and weighs 6 pounds thus making it a lightweight which can easily fit in your office desk without having to create much space. The monitor comes with an open-wage stand that lets you tilt it back and forth a bit. Unfortunately, the monitor lacks height, swivel or pivot adjustments, which are common in premium monitors. Assembling the stand and screen is pretty easy, all you need to do is to screw and slide. The monitor does not support VESA-mount, which might be disappointing if all you wanted to do is mount it to the wall. However, this is not a deal breaker as you can get yourself a VESA mount adapter.

The monitor has a limited port options with only HDMI and VGA ports for outward facing video. There is no audio or USB ports here, neither does it have a webcam or speakers. Since there is no built-in sound system, you shall have to install or simply connect speakers to enjoy the audiovisual experience fully. The HP 22cwa keeps everything at its basic thereby striking a balance between its style and performance. The bottom Bezel comes with four functional unlabeled buttons while the power button is positioned on the far right.

Performance and Display Quality

The 21.5-inch monitor appeals to both home users and gamers thanks to its capabilities that rival that of a budget gaming monitor. It features a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixel and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. It boasts of an IPS panel that offers gorgeous, vivid colors and wide viewing angles thus you can watch a movie with friends while seated on different angles. The pixel density on this screen is 102 PPI, which is quite satisfying at this price range. There is an anti-glare coating that makes viewing easier on the eye.

There is a noise reduction feature on the HP with three modes including low, medium and high settings. The screen has its brightness at 250 nits with the dynamic contrast ratio being 8,000,000:1. The ultra-high contrast is good for text as the screen is very easy on the eyes thus does not cause any eye strain even if you spend a lot of time reading. The monitor has a contrast ratio that users inclined to color images will find satisfying, equally

The refresh rate is at 60 Hz and the response time is at 7ms, which could disappointing to hardcore gamers but quite comfortable for home users. The screen renders crisp HD content at high details thus allowing you to enjoy watching movies on HDTV.

It is possible to any adjustment or calibration pf contrast or color by accessing the On-Screen Display (OSD) which allows easy set up and optimization.

The HP Pavilion 22cwa is a monitor that aims to take care of the budget minded crowd. The screen offers vibrant colors that are suitable for graphic work and you can spend hours editing documents without suffering from eyestrain. Considering the price, we don’t expect much in terms response time and accurate color reproduction but then it offers enough to keep a basic office user going. If you feel that the screen does not offer the experience you want, then going for a bigger screen such as the 34-inch curved Samsung CF791 Monitor could be a good idea but it will cost you an arm and a leg. All said, it is hard to come by an affordable medium-screen monitor with full HD display, good color and image quality, VGA and HDMI ports at this price. As such, the HP Pavilion 22cwa is a great choice to include in your shopping list if you are on a tight budget.
